The State Symphony Orchestra is one of the DPRK's oldest professional orchestras, with players active as far back as the country's founding period in the late 1940s. It performs symphonic concerts for the public, including at the Moranbong Theatre in Pyongyang, and its programmes have featured newly composed symphonic works written for its celebration concerts.
